AllMusic Review by Scott YanowAlthough undoubtedly an expensive acquisition, this ten-CD set is perfectly done and contains dozens of gems. The remarkable but short-lived trumpeter Clifford Brown has the second half of his career fully documented (other than his final performance) and he is showcased in a wide variety of settings. The bulk of the numbers are of Brownie's quintet with co-leader and drummer Max Roach, eitherHarold Land or Sonny Rollins on tenor, pianist Richie Powell, and bassist George Morrow (including some previously unheard alternate takes), but there is also much more. Brown stars at several jam sessions (including a meeting with fellow trumpeters Clark Terry and Maynard Ferguson), accompanies such singers as Dinah Washington, Helen Merrill, and Sarah Vaughan, and is backed by strings on one date. Everything is here, including classic versions of "Parisian Thoroughfare," "Joy Spring," "Daahoud," "Coronado," a ridiculously fast "Move," "Portrait of Jenny," "Cherokee," "Sandu," "I'll Remember April," and "What Is This Thing Called Love?" Get this set while it stays in print.

AllMusic Review by Matt Collar A Studio Chronicle 1940-1948 is a five-disc box set from the British label JSP detailing what producerTed Kendall considers to be the essential studio recordings of saxophonist Charlie Parker. Included here are not only the innovative bebop sides that made Parker a living legend, but also the early Kansas City swing recordings he appeared on while playing with the Jay McShann Orchestra. The result is a studio history of Parker's development from a struggling farm kid turned musician to the most important figure in jazz history next to Louis Armstrong. Given that these recordings are widely available, the real attraction here is the faithful-to-the-original remastered sound, the historically enlightening liner notes, and the overarching critical aesthetic that these are the Bird cuts to check out. Also, given that the tracks are presented with few repeats on discs in chronological order makes this better listening than Atlantic's Complete Savoy and Dial Studio Recordings 1944-1948. Oddly though, the only place Kendall delineates what labels these tracks were originally released on -- mostly Dial and Savoy -- is in the track listing and there only by label numbers. Despite this confusing omission,Kendall has produced a superb collection that illuminates more than it overlooks.

AllMusic Review by arwulf arwulf Jean Baptiste Illinois Jacquet was one of the 20th century's first great extroverted saxophonists. Blending the currents of swing, bop, and R&B, he introduced a "lava fountain" technique which perfectly matched the mounting intensity of modern life. The Illinois Jacquet Story, issued in 2002 as Proper Box 49, samples his recording activity during the years 1944-1951 and is heartily recommended as a bracing blast of mid-20th century jazz at its most exciting. An accomplished interpreter of ballads, Jacquet also became famous -- and infamous -- for his willingness to ride the saxophone to the highest reaches of its upper register or to hammer away at one lick with almost frightening intensity. This sort of unbridled passion clearly inspired the accessibly rowdy accomplishments of Earl Bostic, Freddie Mitchell, and Big Jay McNeely. Vastly expanded and further informed by the realities of life in the mid- to late-20th century, the joyous extremes of the overblown saxophone would resurface in the free improvisations of Albert Ayler, Pharoah Sanders, Anthony Braxton, and Archie Shepp.It is entirely appropriate that this compilation opens with four extended Jazz at the Philharmonic jams recorded live on 16" platters at Hollywood's Philharmonic Auditorium during the summer of 1944, for like Flip Phillips, Jacquet was a crowd-pleasing JATP attention-grabber. Beginning with his first studio session as a leader, Proper's selection is stoked with bold examples from the saxophonist's Philo, ARA, Savoy, Apollo, Aladdin, and Victor recordings. Although most of the collection's 79 tracks are instrumental, its half-dozen vocals are credited to Joe Bailey, Sid McKinney, and Illinois' brother, trumpeter Russell Jacquet. The baritone sax of Leo Parker is especially prominent on Disc Three, which is largely devoted to material from the year 1947. Proper's outstanding Jacquet set closes with 14 Mercury and Clef recordings made in 1951 under the supervision of Norman Granz. Altogether, this is one of the very best Jacquet anthologies ever assembled. It is ideal for high volume playback while driving with the cruise control set at 70 mph, and is sure to mesh well with Proper Box 37 which is devoted to the adventures of another phenomenally expressive tenor saxophonist, Ben Webster.

多谢帮顶和建议 :)
买卖性质、唱片成本各不相同，所以什么是合理价格难有定论。关于转让价格我比较随性，喜欢的就贵，不喜欢的就便宜，远低于成本价或者白送都有可能。
从买的角度，喜欢的唱片就肯花价钱买，不喜欢的白送还闲占地方。毕竟做交易不是扶贫也不是发社会福利。

谢谢！这些唱片或多或少也算是相对少见的内容了。
自由爵士对我目前的欣赏水平来说还是有些难以接受..所以买的也少。科川这套impluse包子已经算是我这里最自由的东西了，即便如此里面还是有不少ballad曲目做中和。。 UPUPUP
