Fifteen years ago, Wadia was the first to develop proprietary digital circuitry that blended a CD player, preamplifier and digital processing in one product. Today the S7i platform not only provides reference quality CD playback, but also serves as a flexible and complete digital hub that manages and plays multiple digital sources.
A full complement of digital inputs including Wadia’s proprietary USB solution allows access and switching of a wide variety of digital sources. Superbly executed digital signal processing maintains the sonic integrity of the music and results in a more natural musical presentation. The digital to analog conversion is performed and the resulting current is driven with a Class A throughput stage maintaining time and phase integrity. Our patented digital volume control, noiseblock circuitry and true-balanced outputs optimize the signal for a wide range of systems. Advancements in power supply filtering and isolation result in quiet, pure power that allows instantaneous and accurate reproduction when it matters most.
The CD transport is at the heart of almost every Wadia product. There are many S7i innovations, each of which is necessary, but not sufficient by itself, for proper performance.
It is the combination of all of these elements that allows the S7i to perform at such a high level. It must be the digital hub that connects and manages all of your digital sources. It must be a decoding computer that insures bit perfect digital to analog conversion. It must connect directly to the power amplifier, and deliver a distinct improvement in sound quality. And yes, it must play multiple disc formats including Red Book standard formats; MP3, FLAC, and WMA data formats.
At the heart of the S7i is an exceptional new transport designed in collaboration with the Austrian company Stream Unlimited. Wadia has a long history of using excellent CD transports, but the two-year collaboration with Stream Unlimited is the first time Wadia worked directly with a high-end digital transport company. The goal was to co-engineer an application-specific mechanism/servo system for Wadia playback machines. We are convinced the new transport offers bit-perfect data retrieval well beyond the capacity of any prior Wadia machines.
The S7i utilizes two signal processors feeding a programmable gate array to form a powerful processing engine. Coupled with our patented DigiMaster 2.5 upsampling software, the S7i generates a data rate of 1.4112 million samples per second at 24 bits of resolution. DigiMaster allows us to generate this amazing amount of data with accuracy in the frequency and particularly in the time domain. ClockLink jitter reduction provides state-of-the-art audio information extraction from CDs and now Data CDs. A discreet implementation of our SwiftCurrent technology (SC-3D) was invented to exploit the extraordinary data rate generated in the digital section. Current exiting the converters is mirrored and driven with a zero global feedback Class A throughput stage. Signals remain time and phase coherent throughout the entire system. Why is this important? When accuracy in the time domain is achieved the resulting 3-dimensional sonic image leaves you with an uncanny suspension of disbelief.
Our quest to reduce extraneous noise led to the inclusion of new multiple fully regulated digital power supplies. The result is a measurable reduction in the noise floor. The adoption of additional inductor filtering for both the digital and analog power supplies of the main decoding circuit ensures smooth charging of capacitors and eliminating noise spikes from the ground plain. There is a fully regulated separate power supply for digital processing, clocking, D>A conversion, and the output stage.

Wadia S7i虽然外型方面和早年传统的同类型机种没多大分别，同样都是采用厚铝铸成的机箱，简洁的面板按钮设计，但据闻这台S7i是厂方近年最为严谨和不惜工本制作的型号，定价高达S183,000港元!其与传统机种最大分别之处，就是内里机械部分所采用的核心拾讯系统，一直以来，Wadia都是以高价承接由Esoteric设计生产的机械元件，虽然Esoteric的产品向来受发烧界的推崇·但厂方仍感觉使用别的厂家的产品未能尽情地发挥本身最大的潜质，因而特意入股一家位于奥地利，累积有多年同类型产品制作经验的著名Stream公司，运用其股东之超然地位，由Stream提供的机械元件：当然要必须配合Wadia的发挥才能达致尽善尽美!换句话来说，Stream公司替Wadia制造的机械元件可说是专为其度身订造的模样。同时Wadia厂方为了迎合现代人的需要，特别在这台S7i的身上加入了流行的USB插口，目的当然是迎合现代人携带型聆听的需要，虽然类似的装设早已在不少同类型的机种身上出现，但Wadia厂方绝对不是抱着人有我有的心态去推出。众所周知，USB为了储存上的方便，大多数会把档案转换成质素较为一般的MP3模式，由于先天上的限制，即使重播器材／解码器具备如何高超的解像能力，亦未必能完全弥补MP3先天之不足，因而Wadia所接受的USB格式更推广至24bit的FLAC或是WMA，让用家能真正享受得到S7i作为解码器使用时的威力!
其它方面，好像Wadia最具盛名的电源处理系统和仿真信号输出技术，当然亦一并应用在这台S7i的身上，数码／模拟完全独立式分体供电，相信已是所有Hi-End机种必备的条件，但Wadia不仅把两者供电系统做到绝对分离，并于两者的身上加装了最新的感应过滤系统于操作时进行仔细的监察，同时令本机操作时所产生的噪音地台减至最低，并杜绝其相互间的影响。至于仿真信号输出方面，Wadia相信是最早期采用数码音量控制的厂家之一，音量控制可以通过调整内部开关，从0．3V至4．25V以配合不同系统的灵敏度，以如此超强的输出，更可无需设置前置放大器直推后级，为系统创造最短的路径和最为传真的数码式放大，而所有数码音量控制都是由具备24bit解像能力的晶片进行。最为重要的，就是其数码音量的控制全在数码区域进行，用家不会因为音量的减少而令细致度亦随之而减弱!除此之外，S7i的类比输出部分皆采用ClassA零负回馈电路设计，充分掌握时间和相位的准确性，务求令每一音符皆能发挥出最佳的3D立体感效果!

近年再次接触Wadia后，其感觉与早年可谓大不相同，即使现今的Wadia再没有当年划破长空式的锐利感，但换来的却是更为人性化的表现!但这并非表示S7i走的是感性路线，其超强的分析能力能把不同的人声，以不费吹灰之力便分辨出来，针点式的结像能力，不单只把人卢的口型结像忠实地定位在适当的位置上，清晰的层次感和发卢部位的反映亦是S7i强项的所在，数人头自刁；用多言，乐器间的分隔度和层次感，乐器愈多其空间感的表现和舞台立体感就更强!亦更能表现出S7i的威力所在!而更为重要的就是当弦乐重播的时候，以住略为生硬欠缺的一点柔韧度，如今在S7i的身上不再重现!不管是要求鸣亮的结他乐器，动态和弹跳力十足的琵琶演奏，甚至是小提琴等，都能令听者听得舒服又享受!

之前已说过新一代的S7i具备温柔的一面的同时，亦同样具备当年最令人津津乐道的本领，好像大场面的控制能力，超强音压时仍能保持气定神闲的风范，两极的伸延以致鼓皮鼓眼的忠实反映等，只要扬声器能发挥出的话，一波又一波的中低频的狠劲或是低至超低频的深潜效果，一一都是S7i最为拿手的好戏!加上能外接其它数码信源器材作为解码器使用，甚至直推后级，即使售价非一般用家能轻易负担，以一部多用途的优质器材算起来仍力超值!
