I haven't gotten a pair of the ER6 yet (I have ER4P/S). However, a number of
people whose ears I trust have compared them to the ER4P and found them to
stand up quite well. They supposedly give you sound that approaches the
ER4P, but just a bit more grainy (which still means much better than most
headphones on the market ;) ).
In terms of differences, the ER6 has a cord that is less microphonic (a GOOD
thing), but doesn't block out quite as much sound as the ER4 series. They
still block out over 20dB, which is much better than any other headphone,
but not quite as much as the 25-30dB of the ER4 series.
