It really doesn’t matter if it is a high end headphone or it is a low end headphone. In a high end speaker system, the size of sound can be almost same size as actual acoustic environment. Or at least it can have same proportion a listener and his or her listening distance as actual acoustics. Therefore, we can approximate the actual listening acoustics in a fihi system. But in headphone system, it is impossible to reach the correct size of sound. Think about this. Under a regular hifi speaker system, we can listen at 80db sound pressure level while the listener can sit 2 or 3 meters, or even far away from speakers. The ratio of sound level and sound size can approximate the actual acoustics. But in a headphone system, you can never get the same size of sound at 80db. The ratio between sound size and sound level is too far away from actual acoustics. In other words, you can get sound stage in hifi headphone system due to the outrage ratio between sound pressure level and size of sound.
I have both HD600 and K1000 now. I can’t hear any sound stage. K1000 has much better so-called sound stage thanks to its construction. |
